Initial Installation

Download Aldente's standalone demonstration version and install it on your computer. The demo version does not need a license.

In order to have an overview of Aldente's functionalities, a demo database with several protein entries is available with the demo installation. The identification of the two demo jobs are correct because the searched proteins are present in the database: ALBU_BOVIN for the first job, and DDX5_HUMAN, NOP5_HUMAN for the second job. The demo database also contains 100 UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Human entries and the pig trypsin enzyme TRYP_PIG. There is no sense in identifying your data against this database. The demo database is part of the Aldente install.

First Use

Upon first using Aldente, you will have to define the current working directory; this is the location on your hard drive where you store your personal identification results. By default, you will be asked to open the demo directory containing a few examples. After practicing with the demo, we highly recommend creating a new working directory for saving your personal identification results in order to prevent mistakes when uninstalling or updating Aldente.

The License

A license is required to access the full functionalities of Aldente with your own defined database. This license is associated with a single computer and a version of the tool.

To obtain a license, you must:

  1. Contact Genebio with your HostId, which is displayed in the first Edit box from the menu Settings/License Manager.
  2. When you receive your license from Genebio, simply copy/paste it in the second Edit box on the menu Settings/License Manager.
  3. Clicking OK will diplay the license features and validity.

Note: The license displayed here is an example and is not a valid license.

Installing the Precompiled Databases

Aldente works on its own database format; this is why you have to download the precompiled databases for Aldente, which are the most recent releases of UniProt/Swiss-Prot and UniProt/TrEMBL.

Once downloaded, copy theses files to the directory "C:/Program Files/sib/Aldente/databases", created by default with Aldente's installation.

Installing Your Own Databases

Aldente works on its own database format. If you want to query your own personal databases, please contact us and we will be glad to help you.
