Appel, Ph.D. in Computer Sciences, Chairman and Scientific Founder, is professor at the Department of Structural Biology and Bioinformatics of Geneva University and Head of the Proteome Imaging Group at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. His group is working on the SWISS-2DPAGE protein reference map database, the Melanie software package for 2D gel analysis, the ExPASy proteome analysis Web server, as well as proteomic tools. |

| Prof. Amos Bairoch, Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Director and Scientific Founder, is professor at the Department of Structural Biology and Bioinformatics of Geneva University and Head of the SWISS-PROT group at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. He is responsible for the development of the SWISS-PROT Knowledgebase, PROSITE and ENZYME databases and is co-creator of the ExPASy proteome analysis Web server and its protein characterization tools. |

| Prof. Denis F. Hochstrasser, M.D., Scientific Founder, is director of the Clinical Pathology Department of the Geneva University Hospital and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland. He is also Head of the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory of the Geneva University Hospital. He is full Professor both to Geneva's Department of Structure Biology & Bioinformatics, Medicine Faculty and to the School of Pharmacy, Sciences Faculty. He is an authority on 2D PAGE technology and a pioneer in its application in the medical field. |
